Sustainability at Wild Mandari
Responsible Travel in the Heart of Yasuni
At Wild Mandari, sustainability isn’t an add-on — it’s the foundation of everything we do. Located deep within Yasuní National Park, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth, we are committed to protecting the rainforest while offering meaningful and responsible travel experiences.
Our operations are designed to minimize environmental impact, support local communities, and invite guests to reconnect with nature in a conscious and respectful way.
Limited Electricity, Purposeful Disconnect
We operate on limited solar-powered electricity, available from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM daily. This window provides enough time for:
Charging essential electronics
Using lights during the evening
Enjoying a quiet, comfortable dinner experience
Beyond this, we encourage guests to unplug and immerse themselves in the natural rhythms of the jungle — the sounds of frogs, monkeys, and birds replacing the distractions of digital noise.
Local Ingredients, less Refrigeration
Our meals are thoughtfully prepared with fresh, local ingredients that do not require refrigeration, reducing energy usage and food waste. We source most of our food from:
Kichwa community farms
Local rivers and forest products
Small producers in Coca
This supports the local economy, ensures freshness, and reduces emissions from transportation and cold storage.
Dry Toilets and Water Conservation
Wild Mandari uses a combination of dry toilets and water-efficient flush toilets in our shared facilities. This significantly reduces water usage — a vital resource even in the rainforest.
We believe every drop counts, especially in a region so vital to the planet’s climate and biodiversity.
Conscious Laundry Practices
We do not wash linens or towels on site. Instead, all bed sheets, towels, and restaurant linens are transported back to Coca for professional, water-efficient cleaning. This reduces our impact on the forest and avoids contaminating local waterways.
We also encourage guests to reuse towels and linens during their stay to save water and energy.
Smarter Transport, Lower Emissions
To reduce fuel consumption and environmental impact, we operate scheduled days transfers and tour departures. This helps us:
Lower the use of motorized canoes
Decrease gas emissions on the river
Make our logistics more efficient and eco-friendly
We invite guests to plan ahead and travel on those days, to further reduce our carbon footprint.

A Deeper Kind of Luxury
At Wild Mandari, sustainability is not about sacrifice — it’s about intentional living, minimal impact, and maximum connection.
You’ll sleep in comfortable, elevated tents, eat fresh, local meals, and explore the jungle with Indigenous Kichwa guides who are deeply rooted in the land.
When You Visit, You Support:
Rainforest conservation in one of the last truly wild areas of Yasuní
Kichwa-owned tourism, where your money stays in the community
Sustainable practices that prove ecotourism is a real alternative to extractive industries
We are proud to show that it’s possible to welcome travelers with comfort and care — without compromising the health of the rainforest.
